Purpose of the role - how it adds value
- To provide methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of the Accounts Production software application in terms of features, business functions and processes, the information used and the data on which the information is based.
- 2. The unambiguous definition of software change requirements for improving the Accounts Production software application with quantification of the potential business benefits. Specifically:
- Eliciting requirements of stakeholders
- Analysing requirements
- Recording requirements
- Communicating requirements
- This role is to bridge the gap between business users, product management and the IT developers.
Main responsibilities of the job
Software development responsibilities
- Ensure that the business requirements are clearly defined, such that the software developers have a clear understanding of the business domain problem to be solved by a software solution.
- Identify and evaluate relevant solutions to the business problems.
- Assure the realisation of business benefits.
- Help to build up the accounts knowledge within the team.
- Mentoring other business analysts.
- Actively communicate ideas, thoughts and tips etc. within the team for discussion and consideration.
- Actively participate in meetings and discussions as and when required.
- Active involvement in the development and maintenance of departmental procedures.
- Identify and react to changing priorities as and when circumstances dictate.
- Respond to enquiries from customers in relation to the functionality and performance of the Accounts Production product either verbally by telephone or in writing by email or letter.
- Concisely and accurately document customer request information, paying particular attention to problem description, resolution, user reaction and any follow up action. Ensure that information gained from handling these queries is promoted to our internal knowledge base within the team and communicated to interested parties.
- Actively consider ways of improving quality and efficiency of the team.
- Assist with documentation for the help sections of the product.
General responsibilities
- Promote and establish a healthy and safe working environment, ensuring that health and safety policies are complied with.
- Identify any potential hazards in the work environment that have the potential to create a risk to other employees or visitors to the organisation.
- The post-holder will work with minimal supervision and may be expected to deal with other duties appropriate to level and post.

Experience: relevant experience for the role
- Experience of an accounting practice
- 2 years experience in a business analysis, requirements engineering or software analysis/design role, practiced within a recognised software development process (desirable)
- ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent qualification (desirable)
- Exposure to IT related issues (desirable)
- English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
